OK - went out to wash the windshield - pretty basic, huh? I realized that, unlike my 328i and M3, the windshield wipers only lift about an inch before they hit some sort of stop. I did RTM - no mention of it. =>So how do I wash the windshield area under the wiper blades if I can't lift the wipers.

TIA - still a 5-series newbie.

Rgds,
Norm

Well I am going by my 97 model - but I am almost sure they have not changed.

Yes, they have a spot where they seem to resist when you lift them off the window - pull past that point and you will hear a click. They then hold at that point till you push them down again. Do not open the hood with them in the fold out position.

I am sure I will hear from you if there has been a change.

Cheers

with my brand spanking new car, I would really appreciate it if anyone with an '00 540i has tried this. Jim, if I had a '97, I'd be yanking on 'em right now. But I'm the guy who also found out my windshield washer fluid tank doesn't have a site guage like yours does.

Just being a little overly cautious with the baby I guess. Well OTOH ... maybe I'll have a glass of wine and go out to the garage and see if I can coax them a little.

TIA - to anybody who tried on '00

Rgds,
Norm
