If you're young get a sports car... (archive)

I'm thinking about getting a car. Around 55K. I was thinking about the e46 M3, but i don't want to wait. How do you guys like your 540i? Should i get a fully loaded 528/530 or just a regular 540i (with rims).. What would you guys do if you were in my place? Oh, and i'm not that old, so insurance cost is an issue. Also what do you guys think of the C32? Same price as the 540i... (One is a V8, one is a Supercharged V6..) You guys have more experience, please help me out. I don't want to buy a car and then be unhappy with it.
Also do you guys think that BMW is going to mess up the steering wheel on the 530, like they did with the 330?

Depending on your answer, you will either be overwhelmingly happy with a 540i or not.
Insurance costs on a 540i will be lower than the M3, which is pretty much higher than anything except a new Carerra. You'll have to wait just as long for a C32 as an M3, I would bet.
The 540i is a fantastic all-around car, but if you don't have a family to haul around, and if you're young and single, you will probably yearn for something a little more "fun"..... These are my feelings after 6 months as an owner. Problem is, once you buy a 5 series, it spoils you and it's very hard to find a car with equal or better performance and quality... and that also has a little more excitement and uniqueness as part of the package. I love my 528i, it's smooth, powerful, solid and quiet (except when you make it growl- yum!)... but there are SO many where I live... which, as someone who is nuts about cars, does take some of the fun out of it.
