OK I know that this topic has been covered and I have searched the archives fairly diligently, however I find the same answer again and again... Balance the wheels. Well Ive done that. It's still there! I'm wondering if anyone has any other ideas other than wheel balancing. I have a 97 528i It has brand new continentals on it. I noticed the shimmy at around 53 - 60 mph at around 2000 to 2300 rpm. What else could it be PLEASE HELP!!!!!

I had a problem with Continentals on my car. It seems that if you drive hard or have a stiff suspension the Conti's are prone to break the steel belts if driven hard. I replaced two of them twice before I got a service advisor who said it was not alignment but the tires. When we put it up on the rack you could see the bottom of the tires were concave instead of flat. This caused different amounts of vibration at different speeds depending on which tire and how bad. I got the dealer to reimburse me for the second set of front tires since it turned out it was not alignment and someone should have caught it earlier.

Hope this helps,
Jory
