IMHO, plugs are a temporary repair, useful only for getting to a place where the tire can be dismounted and patched from the inside. I've personally had a plug repair fail within a few weeks, a friend has had the same experience and tire dealers I've talked to have all given this same advice.

Dunno what to tell you about your wheels, except to make it very clear to the shop beforehand how valuable the wheels are and that you expect the repair to be done with zero damage.
