yesterday when I turned on the engine my "check brake lights" came on...there was nothing wrong with my brake lights. Then the car was fine upon start up for the rest of the day. This morning went to drive the car for the first time and something else happened: the control panel lights all went all and the empty gas light stayed on. However, I have a full tank of gas. The gauge which shows fuel consumption per mpg did not move at all. The panel read " range of miles", which I know I did not select. I turned off the engine, restarted the car, and this time everything is fine.Has anyone experienced this? My guess would be something with the on-board computer. But since it is happening intermittently, would the dealer be able to figure out the problem?
thanks for any input
The brake light message "might" be caused by a marginal bulb or connector - including the upper third brake light.
Regarding the other strange happenings - you have had a "glitch".
Sometimes the computer looses it's sanity and crashes (like you PC freezing).
You did a cold start (which is normal to do in this instance) and that corrected it.
Suggest you make a note of the instance and all things you noticed. if it happens again report to dealer - at least they will have your note in your file for future reference.
Probably nothing to worry about.
Cheers
