A lot of garages just have balancing machines
that do the a basic balance and they don't have
a finer setting for more accurate balances. I
don't know if this is true, but ask an ASE
certified mechanic if some balancing machines
are accurate to a greater degree than others.
Then seek out a garage with the better machinery and tell them the problem. Maybe BMW's are very
sensitive and the tires need to be extremely well
balanced to the rim compared with other brands.
I've heard this from more than one source.

does the vibe change under braking? if so, could be front brake rotors.

I know that this topic has been covered and I have searched the archives fairly diligently, however I find the same answer again and again... Balance the wheels. Well Ive done that. It's still there! I'm wondering if anyone has any other ideas other than wheel balancing. I have a 97 528i It has brand new continentals on it. I noticed the shimmy at around 53 - 60 mph at around 2000 to 2300 rpm. What else could it be PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Get rid of those piece of shit Continental tires and get either Michelin, Dunlop or Pirelli tires. I hear a lot of bad things about those awful Continentals. Take my (and other people's) advice very seriously!
