I just got lasik done. It's been a week and I get really dry eyes. I have to put in drops every 20 minutes. Is anyone familiar with this problem? What's a good lubricant to use?

My wife had a simular problem as a result of having Radiokeratonomy (sp?) done in one eye (before commiting to both eyes). She too found out the hard way that she suffers from major dry eye. This was not flagged before the procedure and as a result she did not get the 'wake up the next day with 20 20 and no problem' results.

The problem you are experiencing is a result of the removal of the epithelian (sp?) during the procedure. The epithelian is like a layer of skin that forms a protective surface on the eye. What we found was that with dry eye, recovery (reformation of epithelian) is much longer and requires medication for better healing.

Try the following:

- Muro 128 2% Solution (drops)
- Muro 128 5% Ointment (ointment used at bedtime)

I think one is over the counter and one (ointment?) requires a presciption.
