I'm thinking about getting a car. Around 55K. I was thinking about the e46 M3, but i don't want to wait. How do you guys like your 540i? Should i get a fully loaded 528/530 or just a regular 540i (with rims).. What would you guys do if you were in my place? Oh, and i'm not that old, so insurance cost is an issue. Also what do you guys think of the C32? Same price as the 540i... (One is a V8, one is a Supercharged V6..) You guys have more experience, please help me out. I don't want to buy a car and then be unhappy with it.

Also do you guys think that BMW is going to mess up the steering wheel on the 530, like they did with the 330?

I am envious of you at your age! I agree with posts about getting a sports car if you can. Boxster S comes to mind or BMW Z-3 derived Coupe. BUT if you do stick with the 5er, et a loaded 530 Sport/premium/5 sp + w/ sport seats if it suits your frame. Mpg a big plus--vs 540--if maintenance/operating costs are an issue. Forget flames about "if you hae to worry about gas prices, then..." Everybody makes priority choices and--even as a current 540 owner--mine would be to not waste $ on gas "unnecessarily," meaning, if you like the 530 well enough anyway it'll give you plenty of jollies w/o worrying about whether you should've had a V8! Yes, the V8 power is intoxicating. But so is the balanced 528/530 handling and steering. A lot of talk about NAV on this board, but if you value your tunes over map reading (yes, I know there's more to NAV) get the newly available in-dash CD instead it's taken so long for BMW to "give" us! Then again, closer to the "aforementioned sports car theme" you could get a 330Ci/Sport OR even 2.9/3.0/M (Z) Coupe if you don't really need a back seat, try to forget the wheel, then really doll it up/such as maybe even get a nice set of aftermarket 17s if the stock Sports don't suit you (yes, stay with 17s esp on 3er)--or optional 18s if you must (and watch the potholes!). Good luck and have fun!
