We will the final answer when the cars start to appear at the dealers (in two-three weeks in Europe). The E39 brochures for NA should be out now and they should say something about it.

I have checked with BMW here and they confirm the 16:9 format on the screen (probably nice for watching TV in central Europe where most stations transmit in 16:9 in movies). They did not know anything about fucntionality, but I can see from the pictures in the german brochure that layout for the menues is brand new. I do not believe there is a new nav computer. It it was, they would have told us as the old sure needs some more compute power.
