I think there are only a couple of people that might be able to answer these questions. Of course, I can call the X-Pel 800 number tomorrow, but thought I'd get the benefit of experience by folks here.

I received my E-Pel kit this weekend and plan on installing next weekend. I read instructions and watched video twice. (BTW - the video covers four cars - fairly quickly - and unfortunately none of them are E39's. Every car is a bit different and has its own quirks and strategy for installing the kit). A couple of things are not covered, so I thought I'd ask anyone with experience:

re: Paint protection kit

1] My BMW is fairly new. Never waxed by me but I suspect dealer probably put a coat of some cheap stuff on
... What did you use to clean car before applying X-Pel? Just alcohol/water solution or something else.

2] The hood kit comes in a rectangular sheet with hood, fender and mirror pieces. Video shows pulling the backing off as you unroll from one side to the other. Well I assume all the little pieces will lose their backing when this is done.

... How did you deal with this? Did you peal off the mirror and fender pieces first and apply them separately and then do the hood kit?

Any other tips, tricks or recommendations you can share that are not in the video, written instructions or X-Pel's website?

TIA

Rgds,
Norm
