I have been using a Califorlnia Duster for over 3 years on my '95 Lexus SC300 5 speed. Initially I was leery but after close inspection after the first few uses, I could not detect any minute scratches or swirl marks. Like everything else, the key is proper usage. In my opinion, the duster should not be used if the vehicle is dirty (versus dusty). I start out with the car freshly hand washed (and waxed if possible). From then on I dust the car every morning in the garage before I leave for work (only takes 60 seconds - becomes part of my morning routine). It is especially important to do this on days when it is going to, or is, raining. This keeps the dust that has accumulated on the car (while parked at work the day before) from becoming a light coating of mud that clings to the finish (duster will not remove this film). Once the car has been driven in the rain, the next morning I will dust again and then use Meguire's 'Quik Detailer' and a soft terry cloth hand towel. This removes the light layer of road grime picked up while driving in the rain and returns the car to its fresh washed appearance (Quik Detailer on my car takes about 15 minutes) Some mornings I am in a rush so I will wait 2 days before I use Quik Detailer. Waiting is no problem as long as I still use the duster in the interim. This procedure has drastically reduced the amount of washing that is needed. I went eight weeks without washing and the car looked great each day. Now, the tires (and wheels) are another subject altogether. I won't go into that now. Anyway, the manufacturer of the California Duster claims that the dirtier it gets, the better it works. I tend to lean towards the cautious side and thoroughly vacuum the 'strands' of the duster once a month using my shop vac. Hope this helps. I would be curious to hear other perspectives on this product.

I'd love to have something like this for the dust on my car but my fear is that it will rub tiny dust particles into the paint and cause swirling. Any experiences??

Thanks
