Just went out to check the water level in the battery as part of preventative/general maintenance - and for the first time noticed it is a sealed maintenance free variety (complete with the built in hydrometer "eye" containing green, yellow, and red balls)!

There have been past discussions about replacement batteries, and it has been noted that the voltage regulator setting that BMW has selected is proper for "conventional" add water as needed batteries, but just a bit too low to properly maintain the sealed maintenance free variety. Since this is what came from the factory, I have to assume that somewhere along the way, BMW has changed the voltage regulator setting. Guess I'll have to get out there with my DVM one of these days and take a look see at what the system voltage actually is.

Anyone know when they changed over ?
