Buy a BMW SI light reset tool. I have one that is sold by Peake Research (see link). The tool makes reseting the lights safe, fast and easy. BTW, the tool version that I purchased also reads fault codes.

Hey Group:

I have read the information on how to reset service lights at this site: http://www.unofficialbmw.com/e36/electrical/e36_reset_service_lights.html

However, it didn't work...Can someone please tell me how in the heck to reset the service interval lights for my particular year/model? I tried several times with no success..Thanks much in advance.
