First of all, if you haven't changed your tires, you weren't going 60 -- BMW speedo is approx. 10% high --- the most brain dead thing about the BMW!

On the radar, I had the K40 SS800 on my 1989 Supra Turbo - I had 380 HP and believe me that car could get me into trouble (just as the 540i can). The K40 saved my ass several times. No crap hanging on the window, no sloppy wires!

I now have the K40 on my 540i and it is already saving my ass -- like yesterday morning. It sees the cops before the driver does from the front OR the rear. On the laser, K40 claims that you are 'cut out' of the picture -- therefore, it doesn't just detect laser radar - it defeats it. My total cost at the BMW center was about $ 1150. It is definitely worth it to me.
