Don't know. Probably because it is not a "remote" unit. I wouldn't say it looses credibility simply because they did not test a specific unit. The test results are what they are. They are not promoting specific brands. Have to ask the folks who conducted the test. There are some articles out there regarding the valentine but you probably would not like them. They discuss the high expense and unnecessary dual antenna given 98% of tickets are targeted off the nose of the vehicle and not more than 40 (?) degrees from center. My opinion is that no detector (including V1) will protect you from the instant on laser so why pay so much for the others. I was considering the Escort SR1 but it is expensive ($1,000)for partial detection.

Kinda losses credibility when they don't even profile the V1.

I have been doing similar research and discovered this very informative web site. Decide for yourself under the "latest detector tests" tab. Personally, I don't think it is worth the expense. They still can not protect you from Laser which now has a 3' beam at 1000' feet. My .02 worth. Check out the site though.

I was just quoted a 700 install price on a K40 undetectable radar install. (WWW.K40.com) I love the system and the simple little LED lights that glow when you are being pinged but I wanna know if the system is worth it. I know the Valentine 1 kicks ass but it is still a dash mount, even with the remote unit? (The detector unit still has to go through the windscreen to get a read? am I right on this?)I hear windscreens are serious detector performance killers.

Does anyone have an opinion on these K40's? I would go for it but I wanna know it is worth it. Especially since it is a permanent install. Also what opinions does anyone have on even buying a radar in the age of lasers? The K40 detects laser also but are laser detectors as a whole worthwhile?

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. This 540i is just way too sneaky for me not to get radar. BTW, I let a friend test drive it last week. (A 2000 Boxster owner by the way) He was floored by the performance. About a mile into the drive we passed a trooper going the opposite way and he immediately looked at the speedo and said Damn, I am going 60 in a 45 zone. This thing is deceiving as hell. Luckily, no ticket.
