Thanks for the clarification. Looks like no "pseudo-shifting" for me. Seems odd that all the 3 series bmw automatics get the stepTronic even if no sport package, but that the 540iA doesn't!

Alan is correct. I just re-read my BMW brochure and it clearly states what he posted.

For what it's worth, we have a 528i with steptronic. The adaptive 5-speed A/T is great, but the steptronic function is near-useless, IMHO, because the shifts are so greatly delayed in the manual mode. I sure wouldn't pay more to get it.
