I have been experiencing the same thing, 4 times now. My car ('97 528) also will not shift higher than 2nd when this happens. Each time it has happened after a big rain, and is corrected by me manually shifting from s2 to s3 to d a few times. Car has been to the dealer 3x for this and reported back as "cannot duplicate". Not stored in memory and no codes come up. Very frustrating to say the least. Wish you better success.

I noticed all 3 lights were on yesterday shortly after I pulled into the street. They came on again after the next start-up but not the next day.

How do I make sure the dealer is troubleshooting the problem correctly instead of reporting a "CAN NOT duplicate"? Isn't there some kind of code the car-computer suppose to store for problems such as these?

thanks
