I've had my 540 for 3 months, over the past 4 weeks I have noticed a "pop" when depressing or releasing the clutch slowly. It occurs right at the engagment phase (almost fully depressed) and seems to be getting worse. Any thoughts.
Thanks

I had a 1998 528i. It gradually began to do the same thing. ....The click was caused by scoring of the collar in which the throw-out bearing moves. I believe the shift fork was also defective.

My 97 528i (bought BMW Cert at 62K miles) does this at 70000 miles, I asked the dealer and got the "seems normal" story as well. It seems to me to be worse when hot. I'm planning on waiting til it needs a clutch anyway and changing everything in sight once I'm in there. I'm also getting a slight creak noise noticable mostly in the garage since the noice is outside the car, i.e. at the trans.
Dave
