The semiconductor sector has been on a pretty consistant 2 year cycle for the past 10 or so years. Judging from that, with market hiccups (such as recent INTC announcement) aside, the semi section should keep a slow and steady pace upward. It is about midway to its peak from indicators. This is a reliable sector, with reliable returns. NVLS and AMAT have consistantly blown away each quarter. I personally think that NVLS is going to be the leader in the IC manufacturing sector within the next 4 years, and Rick Hill (CEO) seems to be quite optimistic on the next few quarters. I'm actually going to be accumulating more NVLS over the next three weeks with AMAT gain. Interesting, about two weeks before NVLS announces quarter earnings there has been a 10 point gain up until the day before, and then the stock drops 6 or so the day of earnings. I have been able to use this phenomenon to scrape a few hundred here and there.

I would be cautious with the telecom sector. AT&T's relationship with AOL (pending AOL/TWX thing) is in question, and the future of what medium will carry broadband could really go either way. Other than those thoughts off the top of my head, I don't know enough about the sector to comment more in depth.

Galo, QCOM up!!! Looks like they may do something with that China deal after all. Unfortunately, they'd have to do 10 china deals for me to recoup my losses. =(

NVLS down =(
PALM down =(
EGRP up =)
AMTD up =)
ATHM up =() (Bought at 12)
SLTC down =( (ah well, I am priced pre IPO)

I'm still treading water in this tech sector...
EGRP and AMTD were gambles, and ATHM was because "ya can't get much lower than 12" with AT&T having sunk so much into them. I'm not even going to look at my mutual funds until next month.
I'm going to dump ATHM tomorrow so that I can pay for the damn supercharger.
