Dinan's charts appear to be crank HP numbers - I'd like to know how they arrive at these. I assume they're not actually pulling the engine from the car and running it up on a Superflow engine dyno or some such.

I'd like to see Dinan's numbers corroborated by third-party before/after wheel HP and torque numbers.

Sometime in the next couple of months I expect I'll have our 540i on a chassis dyno, that might provide some information.

even on older cars, which benefit far more from chips, they don't deliver quite what is promised. A guy dyno'd a '91 M5 and got 281hp/242 ft lbs at the rear wheels vs. 311hp/282hp crank stock. The hp could have been higher as the dyno cut off below redline. Assuming 15% loss, that equates to around 320hp and stock tque numbers. It may be higher as the car definitely pulls harder but it is barely 10%. Conditions can vary but Dinan claims 340hp if I recall correctly.
