No one argues that the car still "pulls" past the stated redline, just that the amount of pull is less than the next gear would provide.
According to most HP graphs I've seen, you want to keep your car right around 5K-5.5K. Mods tend to NOT change the shape of the HP curve, just raise it throughout the rev-band.

I hate to disagree, but when your car has been chipped amd modified for better breathing,and the fuel curve is likewise modified, you pull all the way past redline...how is the Taurus in the quarter mile, by the way...
...busters' are silly to rev this engine anywhere over 6000-6100 RPMs for peak acceleration and performance...waste of time/money/engine longevity and you're going slower!
