I posted a message asking about the Dunlop SP Sport 9000 tires a couple of days ago regarding their performance. One of the 5 Series owners on this board (WAM) said he likes Michelin Pilot Series tires better because they are far superior to the Dunlop SP Sport 9000s in ride quality, quietness, dry weather handling/grip and wet weather traction/grip. Anyway my question is how do the Michelin Pilot Sports fare in ride quality, quietness, dry weather handling/grip and wet weather traction/grip? Are they as good or better in these categories as other Michelin Pilot Series tires? If they are, I will mount these tires instead of the Dunlop SP Sport 9000s on the style 19 alloy wheels if I do in fact buy a 2001 540i Sport (or 2002 if the 4.4L V8 gets the rumored double VANOS with signifigant horsepower and torque increases). I've always thought Michelin tires were generally the best tires in the world because of their quality, durability and longer tire life than other brands' similar tires. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

late model M3's. I think this says something. I had them on my M3 and thought they were excellent in a variety of conditions. I will replace my 540i/6 OEM Dunlops with them when they wear out on my (gulp) "style 32" wheels!

Rgds,
Norm
