Unless you live in Little Cottonwood Canyon Utah (avg snowfall about 500"), you'll do fine w/ higher performance snows such as Dunlop Wintersport M2 or Michlin Alpins in on 17" wheels. Check with Aaron at Tirerack, he knows tires and BMWs (has a Z-3, I think).

I have Wintersports for my 540i/6sp in 235/45/17 fr; 255/40/17 rr. They worked fine in the snow/ice and handled dry roads much better than any snows I've ever used on any car. They are far superior dry road tires to the all season things on non-sport e-39 BMWs.

I have a 2000 540iA with sport package and have the BMW stock wheels (front 8x17, rear 9x17).Radial Stying 32 I think with brillant silver and clearcoat. I really like them a lot.
I was going to get snow tires and wheels and get the Mille Miglia style Cello (7x16) wheels , They look similar to the BMW spokes and also have brilliant silver and clear coat.

Is Mille Miglia close to BMW in quality and looks? I never saw that brand in person. Cannot tell by a picture.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

Dave Schmidt
