Hi Guys,

I'm getting ready to install a VDO Dayton MS5000 navigation system in my '97 540i and I have a couple of questions for the gurus...

1) For people who have installed aftermarket nav where did you locate the GPS antenna? (Where is the antenna located in the factory install?)

2) I need access to the speed sensor wire. I've searched the archives and found that this is a black and white wire which links between the OBC, radio, cluster, etc... This sounds like the I-Bus. Is connection indeed the I-Bus? Is there access to this wire in the trunk (I've seen mention of an I-Bus connection to the DSP amp [18 pin conn, pin 5)?

3) Is there an ignition switched power line readily available in the trunk?

Better yet... since the VDO is closely related to the OEM nav system is there a pre-wired harness somewhere in the trunk for the nav computer?

Thanks in advance for any help (or warnings)! Once I get the system installed I'll be happy to provide some feedback to any who are interested.

-Andrew
