Doesn't the valve train get damaged if it breaks?

Many people say change it 60 or 75K miles, but I get kinda careless with it because I come from a family of mechanics who will fix my car on the spot if something happens (more of the time I'm able to fix my cars myself). Most people in my family NEVER change theirs until they break, and as far as I can remember (in my 23 years of age :) ) only "2" vehicles in my family (immediate, cousins, aunts, uncles, etc.) have been affected by this - one had over 200K, one had near 200K.

I, personally, would not be concerned about it.

Hope this helps!
