Here's what I have decided on.

Before I begin (regards my wife) - she loves

I'm 6 foot 1 and she is 5 10 - not fat (well at least she isn't), but tall :) - anyhow, the new C and the 3-series felt a bit cramped for what we're looking for. Whenever we go out with other couples, we seem to be the drivers - I'm sorry, but you can't pull the seats up in a C or 3 and be comfortable.

------------------------------

All four of the vehicles were in the shop CONSTANTLY. I mean all the time...electrical, trim - you name it. Will I have better luck with a 2001 5 - it's been awhile, but is it an improved vehicle?

Hmmm...if you are already decided then good luck. The 5 series does not have that much room in in. Yes, since four doors are easier to get in and out of it would be better than the 3.

BMW's tend to be in the shop more than other cars in the same price range from what I here and see around. If you are comfortable in the front seats, the back passengers are going to be cramped but not too bad if for short distances. MB and Lexus both have more back seat room.

Hope she enjoys the new car! My wife never wants to drive my M5. I think she is afraid of it or something.
