Just hit 100 miles on my new 530i sport premium with auto steptronic. The car is awesome. I drove a 528i sport automatic with 14,000 miles (as a loner) for 5 months and the difference in the two cars is defintely noticeable and appreciated!! To be clear, it is NOT a 540i when it comes to acceleration. But the 530i is fast off the line, much better low-end pick up than the 528i, and the responsiveness of the engine to slight inputs from the accelerator is sharp and immediate. And I haven't gotten my car over 4000 rpm yet!! BMW got this one right IMHO.
I think the lights look cool (I'm getting lots of turned heads checking them out when I've got the lights on). If anything, they're different. The 530i sport wheels (style 42) look great - they're much meaner looking than the old sport wheels. And yes, they are deep dished (about an 1 inch front and rear). I like the way you can see the disc brakes more through the wheels. I also like the in-dash CD player - finally!!
Only 1 complaint ... I hear this horrible wind noise coming from the driver front door/sunroof area at speeds above 40 mph (low frequency, pulsing noise). I checked the archives and noted a couple of other folks with the same issue and am going to pass along several of the fix ideas to my dealer (they're coming to pick it up tomorrow to check it out).
Desparately waiting for my break-in period to be over,
Jerry V.
