I too have the AutoThority high-flow induction / CAI and can attest to the cool air being ingested by the intake. I too was worried about warmer-air-than-stock being ingested by the engine. So after my 45-minute, stop and go 22-mile commute, I immediately popped the hood and touched the intake tube. It was cool as the ambient air outside. As a matter of fact, the ABS motor and all of the surrounding metal was cool to the touch - this on a 70F day. This simply means that there is enough airflow from the stock lower intake tube to keep the area inundated with cool, outside air. The AutoThority Flowtech simply allows greater quantites of the cool air to be "intaked" by the engine :-). Plus, the intake allows the engine to be more "vocal". An excellent side-benefit.
