Hi Jim, are you certain that there are no late model BMW's pre-wired for it? What yr is yours? Have any pics by any chance (esp showing that 40mm hole)?

My car is a 2000 528i, just a couple of months old (July mfg date). Unfortunately, I don't have pics (no digital camera, yet). However the hole location is easy to find. It is already center punched, so if you use a step drill (or hole saw), you know exactly where the point of the drill needs to be placed. Physically it is below the right tail light about 5" and comes into the trunk above the battery, just above the negative cable. There is a grommet that is part of the wiring harness that seals the hole, and it is completely hidden by the rear bumper.
