530i BMW cellphone (archive)

I am expecting delivery of a 530i premium/sport in the later part of December and need some advice. I currently use a Motorola StarTac cell phone that looks just like the BMW OEM cellphone. If I purchase and install the BMW phone kit, will my StarTac work with all the BMW hands free and dash interfaces? If not, are there any options other than through the dealer at $1100 to get the BMW phone?
