I have M5 wheels with 275/35-18 tires on the rear and 245/40-18 tires on the front without rolling the 540i's rear fender lip. I have had no problems but the car has the stock BMW Sports suspension so it was not "lowered". I hear that if you lowered the car, you would need to roll the rear fenders and the cost is about $50.
