I've been looking at wagon options, and I would recommend looking at the new 325xi Sport Wagon. It's got all-wheel drive, comes new for the price of the used 528i wagon, and has only slightly less cargo space than a 5-series wagon.

That all-wheel drive option is what attracts me to the car, something you can't get in a 5-series.

As for that particular car, I tend to avoid rental car purchases and other cars used by different people. I can imagine the loaner car might be abused at times.
