I have not used the Pirelli snows but my experience with the Pilot Alpines is that they handle great, for a winter tire, on dry pavement and acceptable in the snow. However, their ice traction is not as well as I expected. For serious snow and ice traction I would recommed the Blizzak, in particular the original. They are by far the best snow and ice tire that I have used. However, their dry pavement handling, as someone previous posted before is like driving on an eraser and unfortunatley I have to agree.

Hope this helps.

If I recall correctly there is an article and a comparison at tirerack.com regarding the Pilot Alpine with a newer version of the Blizzak. My personal experiece is that the original Blizzak was better in snow and ice and the newer versions just improved the dry pavement handling by sacrificing the snow and ice traction.
