I have been running 4 Blizzaks for the last 2 winters and they are pretty impressive on snow and ice. Last year, I took a winter driving course with my 528i and the Blizzaks...I was amazed at how well the car handled through the ice slaloms and snow covered switchbacks. In fact, I had to keep the traction control off at all times to make the car more "tossable". Braking was also very impressive..the ABS stayed on for the braking runs. I got my daughter 4 of the newer style Blizzaks 2 seasons ago...they're already worn out and the traction on snow and ice was very poor compared to the original style tire. The tire is, however, justly criticized for it's poor dry pavement handling. I've improved that somewhat by running 35 to 36 pounds of pressure on the front and back tires...it's now tolerable. There are other good snow tires out there but I have no personal experience with them, so I won't make any other comments.
