Yes it is a steptronic... the car was manufactured in june 1997.
Maybe we i europe got the steptronic faster.
I know we had the E39 model in late 1995 so...

...but is that a steptronic trans? In a '97? I have an early (August 1999 build) 2000 528iA and missed the steptronic by one month - at least as far as the Canadian market went.

I live in the northern part of Sweden and has been reading on this list for a while and like the pictures of your cars so I would like to show you some pics of my 528iA -97.
It has almost every option except for the Nav and Sport seats.
