Just bought a '97 540i sport, 66k miles, over 4 yrs old, so out of warranty.

Looking for info on whether independants can yet service these cars. If so, recommendations for Boston Metrowest area. Alternatively, recommendations on aftermarket warranty packages? Gotchas??
