What is a '99 540i supposed to sound like when it idles. Are you supposed to hear anything like valves going up and down?
I took my new wagon on a road trip this w/e and found that you had better be in sport mode on the tranny if you plan to pass someone, because if you don't it really shifts hard on the the downshift. I think the dealer told me this, but I didn't know it was that important. I hope I didn't already hurt my car, I did abuse it just a little. =)
Just hit the redline once and three hard downshifts. It shifts much better in sport mode.
