If you look inside the rear fender opening of your car, you'll find that the lip extends inward for about 5/8" before turning upward at about a 45-degree angle for another short distance.
On an M5, this lip is bent upward, flat against the outer wall of the fender. The plastic inner fender liner is also different, though I haven't eyeballed them closely enough to tell just how different.
You need to find someone who will roll the lip upward against the outer fender wall similar to what the M5 has.
On the two occasions I've done this (not on our 540i, mind you) the tool of choice was iron water pipe.
Select appropriate diameter pipe, one person drives slowly forward (or backward) while the other guides the pipe and holds the outer end down at a steep angle as it rolls over the tire, forcing the fender lip outward as it goes.
If done properly (hint: wrap a good layer of duct tape around the pipe and make sure the shoulder area of your tire where the pipe will roll is clean) the pipe rolls along the sheetmetal (it doesn't slide) and hopefully doesn't damage the paint.
