Mmmm. Discussions below hint there may be a 'problem', specifically with the new 530, albeit minor. Certainly my experience was a sudden, sharp kick of power coming in around 1200rpm whilst pulling away in first gear, below which the pull is characteristically 6-cylinder. But there's nothing in between zero and burnout. Thus, gentle, but firm, driving is nigh on impossible at low speeds. You don't need to burn rubber to demonstrate this, and the effect is certainly more than just lack of torque on initial take-up.

Opinions on the board indicate that this must have something to do with either: the DSC (which I doubt because you really don't have to push it so hard to make it do this, unless there's an anomaly with the stability control); or the engine management/drive-by-wire control not being quite as clever as it should be.That being the most likely case, is it conceiveably that this could be fixed with a software patch if it bothers too many folk in the future?

I guess the worst scenario wouild be that this is simply a characteristic of this 'new' engine. (See recent postings for discussions on the drawbacks of new (i.e. 'unproven' technology). More torque and bhp with no impact on fuel consumption and little by way of radical engine mods might just be pushing the old 6-cylinder too far for perfection. Shame if that's the case.

I'm ready to place an order for a 530 and would certainly like to hear more on this from end users and from those who have more technical knowledge than I do. Any further thoughts?
