There has been a lot of discussion on this issue. A lot of people on this site know that you can't buy a non-BMW Motorola and expect it to work in your BMW. You can ask anyone on this site and they will also share their frustrations in trying to get a non-BMW phone to work in their car. All you have to do is check the archives or see how ignorant some of the dealers are when it comes to answering questions on this issue. They don't even have a clue either. They just give the price and turn it over to their techs to resolve. Those BMW phones are specially made to take advantage of the car's hand-off features and more. As mentioned in a previous post...I( would not rush to find an after market phone if you plan to put one in your car. Seems BMW is trying to put out a new phone and should be out in the near future.
