What are the RPMs at 45mph in 5th gear? My guess is around 1500 or so. I'm not an expert, but I think this is acceptable, as long as you're not lugging the engine. I think I'm usually in 4th at 45mph, but I may put it into 5th if I'm just moseying along like a Sunday driver.

I hope this is not a dumb question, but I am curious as to what others think and do when it comes to shifting and the speed you are driving at. I have had several debates with friends on this subject. I rarely shift into 5th gear unless I am on the highway and am driving 55mph and above.

Several individuals have told me that even at 45mph I should be in 5th. Just curious as to others comments.

Thanks

Mark
