Lately, I have had to struggle a bit to get my 2000 528 in first gear when starting off (almost every start). I originally did not think it was a problem, since it is cold as heck here in MD (8 degree lows & 20's high if lucky), and sometimes clutches and shifters are a little stiff.

Well, after shifting to second gear three nights ago, the shifter popped out of gear. I thought it was perhaps my fault (maybe not fully in gear), but the very next day, it popped out of third gear, and I was *certain* it was properly in gear.

My questions are:

1. Does this sound familiar to anyone else here?

2. What do you all think is causing this problem.

I have noticed in the past the sometimes the gears would scrape even when I had the clutch fully engaged, but did not wanna go through the inconvenience of leaving work to take my car in, only for service to say "No problem detected." Of course, I will be calling my service advisor Tuesday, but would like to have some feedback from you all before doing such.

TIA!

Happy Holidays,

SS
