Gas is gas. Brand does not matter. It is traded back and forth at all levels of production and distribution by all players. I live in Boston and regularly see Mobil tankers leaving Global terminals.Per local Boston Globe article, variations in octane level vary the combustion point given a certain pressure. The higher the octane, the higher the compression required. (If I remember the article correctly.) If you use low octane when high octane is specified, premature ignition will occur. So, use what the mfg recomends, no more, no less.
