With all of the various questions, comments and concerns on this board, as well as the M5 board (regarding the Dinan warranty issue),it seems to me that, the Dinan-BMW warranty subject might be coming to a head. I'm just surprised that, it has taken this long, for owner's of BMWs to question the vaildity of the Dinan warranty and "alleged" agreement between Dinan and BMW, to honor the warranty, in the event of a break down of some type due to the Dinan modification. BMWNA flat out denies any parnership, affiliation or ties with the Dinan Corp. of California.Furthermore, BMWNA explicitly WARNS the BMW owner that tampering with their(BMW)vehicles will void the BMW warranty. Dinan's warranty page does not mention the words and or phrase, BMW, BMW dealership or BMWNA. It is so apparent that, should something go wrong, with a BMW vehicle having been modified with Dinan components and its software, it is HIGHLY PROBABLE the local BMW dealer will turn their back(s) to the BMW customer and not rectify the problem/defect, whether caused by Dinan or not, the BMW warranty becomes null and void! Based on different BMW owner/driver's stories,Dinan has also refused to honor their warranty claim, as posted on their web site. Thus, the BMW owner/driver's have both sides (Dinan & BMWNA) turning their backs to the owner of the vehicle that is experiencing the vehicle related problem. The BMW owner is basically "up a creek without a paddle". I am not implying that Dinan makes a bad product. Their products do work well on BMWs until a potential problem arises. Only at this point, does the nightmare begin for the BMW customer. If a individual can afford to take such a gamble/risk and afford to pay out of his own pocket for repairs, then it might be worth doing,if you desire a few extra horses.
It seems to me that all of the BMW owners/driver's on this board and the M5 board are very intelligent people. One would have to be deaf, dumb and blind to not see the "writing on the wall",regarding this topic, and the members of this board and the M5 board appear to be savvy people. So why do BMW owner/driver's still have an interest in potentially voiding their BMW warranties?
So, my question is, why do people still think or believe (the clevermarketing stratagy, created by the Dinan Corp.)the warranty is honored without any resistance from Dinan and repairs are done without hassle or without the questioning of repair resposibility between Dinan and BMWNA?
I myself own a older model porche 911and I am not posting this in attempt as an endorsement for another product. My neighbor recently purchased a 5 series BMW and he refuses to tamper with any part of the car, stereo included!
Can someone please explain why BMW owners are willing to risk voidingthe warranties to their beautiful automobiles?
