I had a similar experience. On one day I test drove a CLK320, then a 328Ci, then a 540. I knew before I'd turned the first corner that the 540 was The One. And this was with a slushbox, even. I ordered the 540i/6 a week later. I've had it since June and every time I get into it, I'm still seduced by the power, the handling, the quiet, the civility and the perfection.
