On a whim yesterday, my wife and I decided to drive to Santa Barbara from our house in Corona (about 150 miles) and spend the nite.

We took PCH(Pacific Coast HWY) up to Oxnard and got great views of the pacific ocean especially after the clearing of the recent storms. We stayed at the Radissons but I would recommend staying at the Doubletree resort for a few bucks more.

This morning, we took CA HWY 154 to Solvang which is a like European(Netherlands) town setting.

I am happy to say that I was saved by Valentine One three times during the whole trip, once on PCH, the other two on CA 154 (by the same CHP car). The directional arrows really helps a lot and alerts you on where to expect the threat.
Without the V1, I would be posting today asking for ticket advice.
I recommend the 154 route as a great drive but don't do it without protection. Soft rolling hills with some minor twisties on the way up. I just read on the BMWM5 board that the road on top of the mountain (camino cielo) is also a good side trip to take. Maybe during Bimmerfest..hmmm.

We stopped by Cutter Motors to say hi to Jon S, but he was not in. We did meet Franco. We sauntered over to the Mercedes side of Cutter and my wife is now contemplating a CLK320 euro-delivery.

Overall, a great weekend getaway.

Has anybody driven to Idyllwild,CA? Any suggestions on which route to take? Maybe I'll do this drive next sunday. Anybody else want to join?

Here's a picture of my car on the Santa Barbara Pier this morning..
