Apparently BMW is adding the Auto Climate Control back into all three series beginning with March production. Although nothing formal has been announced, I can't imagine that the entry 325 would get the Auto A/C and the 525i wouldn't. I would hold off a bit to see what comes out in terms of announcements to the dealers. Otherwise, the manual A/C is not bad, just the panel looks a bit cheap and an afterthought. From the original european press on the E39, I remember that ALL models were to get the auto A/C, but I guess the manual was later offered to cut the price. The manual is not even dual zoned. I am in the market for a relatively cheap 525i sedan. My problem is, I want the auto climate control for the car, but it is only offered through the expensive convenience package. My question is, is there any way to change the manual unit with the automatic a/c through the parts department or through the factory? Are there any mid year changes for the 5-series? Thanks in advance.
