I have a 1998 528 that I upgraded to HID (old style not 2001) and I have the Hella leveling kit on order from PUMA.

As far as I can tell, wiring harnesses are included with the kit, not prewired on the car. I believe I remember someone saying the factory leveling system uses sensors on both the front and rear of the car.

My kit should arrive soon, I can let you know full details when it arrives, it had to ship from Germany.
