I was in same predicament as you...In fact i was anxiously awaiting the C class...Had preordered it fully loaded with exception of nav and phone...after my test drive I thought the C class was a little small in the back. The handling was good but not in the same class as the 328i...My wife appreciates the back seat being more spacious (wider?)...The BMW felt a little more surefooted, responsive (especially with the sport Package), and faster...The trunk is bigger and the interior more spacious. Not to mention with the 5 speed manual, I'm getting better gas mileage than the new C. The new C has a lot of electronic gadgets if you are into that.

Get the Sport package...the steering wheel is thicker (I, too didn't like the standard steering wheel). The engine growl...well its a BMW, its letting you know "hey, I'm working for you"...really it is not that much louder than my father's 2001 e430 at cruising speeds.

Well, your observations are accurate...For me, I spent a little bit more, but I got a different class and size of car compared to the new C.
