Robert,

The government consistantly takes the position that it is there to protect you. All to often they are protecting you from yourself.

There are those of us though, who have the ability to think on our own, and choose to look at things in a positive manner rather than a negitive one.

There are a number of motorvehicle laws that have been enacted for the "protection" of the citizens from the awful products provided by import manufactures. Some perfect examples are:

Warning Triangle - DOT requires that the base be weighted to ensure that it won't topple, For those who have the BMW triangle, you know it wouldn't topple in a hurricane.

First-Aid Kit - It contains a scaple, someone might cut themselves. Heaven forbid a person exercise common sense.

Knee bolsters - There to protect the stupid from himself. When properly wearing a seatbelt, if you hit the knee bolsters in an accident it's because the dash was driven into your legs. In that case I would prefer an extra 2" of room. The European dash is also padded, just not as much.

Euro-Spec Headlights - Far better side lighting, and a spcific cutoff to keep from blinding other drivers. US-Spec lighting is a joke.
